What this is

GPS Speedometer is a free browser-based tool. By visiting the site and using the speedometer, you agree to the terms below. If you don't, please close the tab.

Service "as is"

The speedometer is provided as is, without any warranty. We make no guarantee that the displayed speed is accurate at any moment, that the site will be available, or that the iOS app will run on every device. We do our best, but you use it at your own risk.

Not a safety-critical instrument

Do not rely on this tool for safety-critical decisions. Examples of things this is not intended for:

  • Legal proof of speed in a traffic dispute
  • Navigation in low-visibility conditions
  • Aviation, marine, or industrial control
  • Any decision where being off by a few miles per hour matters

GPS speed is calculated from position deltas. It can lag, jump, or read zero in tunnels and buildings. Always defer to your vehicle's own instruments and to common sense.

Don't use it while distracted

If you're driving, mount your phone in a hands-free cradle and glance at it briefly. Don't fiddle with the screen, don't hold it in your hand, and don't read the dial when you should be watching the road.

Your data

See our Privacy Policy. Short version: your location data never leaves your device.

Intellectual property

The site design, code, and content are © GPS Speedometer. The Apple App Store badge and trademarks are property of Apple Inc.

Liability

To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any direct or indirect damages from your use of the site, including but not limited to vehicle accidents, traffic citations, missed appointments, or hurt feelings.

Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
