How the math works

Average acceleration is the change in velocity divided by the time it takes. Going from 0 to 60 mph is a velocity change of 26.82 m/s. Divide by the seconds it takes and you have the average acceleration. Divide that by 9.80665 (standard gravity) and you have the result in g, which is how the human body interprets the push into the seat.

Note that this is an average. Real cars do not accelerate at a constant rate. Most have a brief peak during the launch and a softer middle as gears change. The number from this calculator tells you how the run averaged out, not the maximum force you felt for a moment off the line.

The 0-100 km/h conversion in the results is not exact. 60 mph is 96.56 kph, so the 0-100 km/h time assumes the same average acceleration continues for the extra 3.44 kph. For most cars this adds about 3.5% to 4% to the time — close enough for spec sheet comparison.
